Fundamentals

“In 1985, two days before we won the Super Bowl our defensive coach had us work on tackling form for twenty minutes. Working on the little things like keeping our base wide, wrapping up, and keeping our head up as we tackled. There was myself, Richard Dent, Mike Singletary, and Steve McMichael who had all been All-Pros but for twenty minutes before the biggest game of our life we all repeated the most basic of skill in our job over and over. We were All-Pros and Super Bowl Champions because we were never too good to work on fundamentals.”

Dan Hampton, Hall of Fame Football Player
