Champions!!!!

The girls got the job done vs. a tough Teutopolis team. T-town came in with an 8 game winning streak. It might have been a different story if it was the first game of the tourney but it being the 3rd day and 4th game, our depth was the factor. Our ability to have played 15 players on the day before made the difference.

The first possession of the game was huge for us. T-town starts four players 5'10" or taller. We came down and got 3 offensive rebounds and got 4 three point attempts. Jessica Howard nailed the last three.

Jessie Wendt was probably one of the top two players we have faced this year (point guard from Springfield). She really gave us trouble in our press. She was active, got the ball, and pushed the ball up court. But she paid a price for that effort as the game went on. Even though we were only up one at half, with the score 39-38, the game was being played at a very fast tempo.

T-town chose to do like many teams have done, sell out to take away our three point shooting. That meant we got a lot more inside. That helped us go 15 for 25 on two's, and more importantly helped us shoot 31 foul shots.

Individual Stats
Free Throws-  Tai Peachey 9-11, Jessica Howard 7-8

It is so exciting to see so many different girls contributing to our success. Sometimes, they get lost in the shuffle. Rainee hit a big three in the second quarter, Emma got loose on the break for a basket, Sadee got all the 50/50 balls around her, Myra was on the floor again, Jess L read the defense and got to the hoop, Baylie sliced thru to the hoop to up our lead, Megan got 3 o-reb, Paige got a critical steal, Mickey hit some big threes in the tourney, and on and on....    Fun to watch, and fun to work with. We have now won 13 of 14 and 9 in a row.

We are off until Monday night- a well deserved rest.

  1. So many things made this week the success it was, and like Coach Massey wrote: so many of them never make the stats. In the paper, at least. The fans know what a team effort this is, hopefully the girls know it, too.
