Streaks Players

I anticipate your wait is almost over, that they will name your new varsity head coach very soon. It is going to be a very exciting time for you- the first meeting, the first day of Streaks Camp, your first league game, the first practice in November, and your first game next season. Every team, every year is different and special. But you are going to be a very special and unique team- you will be the first team with the new coach. I hope you will feed off this excitement, and bring a high level of energy! Hopefully you will "bring it" to your individual workouts this spring, practices this summer, and games this summer!

For some of you, it will be a welcome chance for a fresh start. For others of you, it will be time to reprove yourself with the new coach. Whatever your situation, bring energy, enthusiasm, and intensity- right from the start. Your new coach will be looking for players who are reliable and they can depend on in the classroom and on the court. The coach will be looking for players who are hard working, good teammates, and leaders.

The new coach may do some of the same drills and run some of the same x/o's, but the new coach will also make changes in how you practice, how you play, and the expectations for the team culture. Embrace what is new, that will be what builds your identity as players and as a team. If you are to be successful individually and as a team, you must be coachable. The more you believe in your coach and your coach's ideas, the greater your chance to become champions. Be positive, be supportive, and be an eager learner. As the new coach works to establish your team culture, be willing to be held accountable by your coach!

I am excited to watch you and your team grow and develop. When I get to watch you in June, it will be exciting to see who has worked and improved their game! And when you play games, it is always exciting to see players who "play hard" and "play together."
