Taylorville- 1944 State Champs- Dolph Stanley’s most famous team was his 1944 Taylorville team. They were undefeated State Champs, finishing a perfect 45-0. It is doubtful any team will break this record.
Dolph Stanley- Coach Stanley had the unbelievable achievement of taking 5 different schools to the State Tourney.
Dolph Stanley Court- This picture is from Taylorville’s Dolph Stanley Court. The gym of Rockford Auburn was also named for Dolph Stanley. So he was honored by two different schools with “Dolph Stanley Court” and “Dolph Stanley Gym.”
Taylorville Gym- Taylorville HS has one of the classic old gyms in Illinois. It has arena style seating like many of the old gyms of middle 1900’s.
Just Like Hoosier’s Gym- At one end is the classic team picture and banner of the 1944 boys basketball team, it gives it a definite Hoosiers feel.
Retired Numbers- This is a list of Illinois greats. The Illinois basketball fan will enjoy this history.

1936- Mt.Pulaski- 4th

1963- Rockford Auburn- Elite 8
1971- Rockford Boylan- Elite 8
Dolph Stanley also led tiny Beloit College to an NIT berth and #16 ranking in the AP polls in 1951. He finished his career in 1989 at the age of 84 with 943 total wins (705 in college).
