We can't lift but we can still get stronger. |
“It’s raining, I can’t do anything.”
There are a ton of things you can do to make yourself a better athlete, and a better basketball player in your garage, in your basement, or in your room.
“It’s raining, I can’t go to the weight room.”
A critical thing for athletes is to work on maintaining and building strength. You can’t get to the weight room but you can do body weight exercises. Players MUST be doing body weight strength exercises 5-6 days per week. They will only take 15 minutes.

Watch some game tape on Hudl. Watch yourself or someone who plays your position. Take a sheet of paper, and divide it into two columns. One column make list of good things you would want to repeat. The other column list of errors that you don’t want to repeat.
“It’s raining, I don’t have a garage or basement.”
Do the strength program several times.

“It’s raining, I choose not to do anything.”
The more excuses we make, the less we do. The less we do, the less we improve. The less we improve, the less likely it is you personally reach your goals when we start practice in November. The less you improve, the less likely it is we reach our goals as a team when we tip off for games.
And come to think about it, if it isn't pouring, can a person still shoot in their driveway?
