Streaks Loss to RI

Tough night for the Streaks last night, and it may have been an even tougher night for the fans. At first glance the 86-78 score would make it seem like it must have been an exciting game. But few fans who were there would have ranked it as an exciting game. The game took barely under two hours (normal games would be about 75 minutes).

Rocky jumped out to a 9-0 lead. I thought we showed good composure to battle back for a half time tie. In the third quarter it looked like we were going to take over. On a Rainee Sibley three we opened up an 8 point lead with about 3 minutes to go in the period. But we failed to score for the rest of the period, and Rocky took charge. We were down over 10 points early in the fourth, and then came back to within 3 points but could never catch up.

It was a game in which we had 36 turnovers and committed 27 fouls. With those totals, it is amazing we were even in the game. We cannot have those kinds of totals and compete.

Yes, not sure last nights game was what Dr. Naismith had in mind. As a coaching friend said to me this morning, "I don't know if that was the ugliest game I have ever seen, but it sure is in the top ten." Our girls played hard but things did not work out.

Saturday it is on to Maine South for a good game vs. one of the top 4A teams in Illinois.
