home games!...what an honor to be there with Dexter, Callahan,
Lundstrom, Davis and Marv Harris! I still hate Cobden!..and Quincy of

1962 GHS State Baseball Tournament Finals in Peoria
Lost…but came back in the summer and won American Legion State Championship
Receiving phone call from Coach Abadie at Tulane University in my senior year…D1 Full Ride Scholarship at Tulane…very proud of that
Being elected into GHS Hall Of Fame 2019
Best memories growing up in Galesburg
Watching Galesburg semi pro baseball at HT Custer Park with my Father
and listening to GHS Basketball on the radio with Bill Pearson at the mike!
Of course going to the old Steele GYM and watching the Streaks and
having dinner at Coney Island…with my Father…Dewey Darrah

IBM Sales retired after 25 years- Director Marketing Chicago Region
Verizon Director of Product Marketing Tampa Florida- Retired in 2012
Most fun Job…American Legion Coach 1970-71and 1972-73 CICL with
Jimmy. Coach High School Baseball at Freedom HS, Tampa Florida for 3
years after retirement.
Up To Today
I play competitive travel softball (SSUSA, SPA and ISA)- Currently with the
KC Kids 80’s AAA team. We play over 12 tournaments a year…I have been
playing travel softball for 35 years now…
Proud of being honored as an All-American player in Senior Players
Association. Chicago Strikers, Scrap Iron (Denver), Sidewinders (Arizona),
Grey Geese (Florida), Bucs and Bulls (Florida)
Currently playing golf here in Lake Ozark during the summer…returning
home in Scottsdale Az for the winter for softball and golf!...
Thoughts on life and sports…
Winning isn’t everything…it’s the ONLY thing
My Father taught me…It’s OK to fail (lose) but it’s NEVER OK not to try
your best!
Learn from your mistakes and never repeat them…learn to grow and
“OWN” your errors…they can make you stronger as a person.
Remember…winning the “LAST GAME” is always the most important…”Billy Beane”
Lastly…Keep moving.
