Galesburg Builders Supply Co ran a series of ads in the Galesburg Register-Mail from September 24, 1956 thru May 27, 1957. Each ad showed a picture of a housing development, a manufacturer, a school, or a park in Galesburg. The ads were designed to celebrate the vibrant growth taking place in Galesburg after World War II. 
To put the growth of Galesburg in perspective, here is a look at the population of Galesburg since its founding.

Like many communities, Galesburg experienced a poplulation “boom” in post-World War II era. Galesburg went from 28,876 (1940) to 37,243 (1960). This increase of 8,367 was a 29% boom that meant a need for housing.
