Legendary coach, Dolph Stanley was honored by an article in the 1976 IHSA State Tourney Class A Program. The article was written by Chuck Keefer of the Rockford Morning Star.
In 1975, Stanley was finishing his fifth season as the coach at Rockford Boylan. He coached at Equality, Mt. Pulaski, Taylorville, Rockford Auburn, Rockford Boylan, Country Day High School.
He had retired at 65 from public schools so he left Rockford Auburn for Boylan. He retired from coaching at 84 years of age.
He took 5 teams to State, including the ‘44 Taylorville team that went 45-0.
He also coached at Beloit College, and took them to the NIT.
Both Rockford Auburn and Taylorville named their gyms after Stanley.
