IBCA Hall of Fame Inductees- Galesburg Flavor

Three people with connections to Galesburg will be inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame this spring. Tiffany Sibley (1992 GHS grad), Joe Thompson (Galesburg ref), and Jane Miller (GHS grad who writes for the Journal-Star). All three are very deserving of the honor.

Tiffany Sibley played for the Streaks from 1988 thru 1992. On the all-time career list at GHS:
Steals-   #2 with 318 steals
Field Goals Made- #1 with 699 made field goals
Most Points-  #2 with 1806 points

What is impressive about her career numbers is that she played under 100 games, while most others near her on the lists played 20-30 more games during their careers. When she graduated in 1992, she was the all-time scoring leader in both boys and girls basketball at GHS.

Season Stats:
Steals- #4 with 118 steals
Steal Average-  #4 with 4.2 per game
Most Field Goals Made-  #1 with 270
Points-  #2 with 710 her senior year,  #3 with 683 her junior year
Scoring Average-  #1 with 24.4ppg (junior year),  #2 with 23.7ppg (senior year)

I would say that while we have had many great players at GHS, Tiffany Sibley was the most prolific scorer in our history. She could handle the ball, she was exceptional quick, she was a great athlete with great jumping ability, and she had a picture perfect jump shot. When Tiffany shot the ball, she elevated. Whether shooting a three or shooting a five foot shot, she always got about a foot & half off the floor. She had games she totally took over. There was an Alleman game where they played box and one on her, and she still managed 30 points. And a Taylorville game where we got down early, moved her to point guard and she went nuts scoring 35 points.

Congratulations to Tiffany, Jane, and Joe.
