Coach Bob Anderson- Williamsfield
Baseline OB Lob
This is something you can use with .3 seconds left and out under the basket. As we know, you only hve time to tip the ball.
#5 cuts to the rim. If #5 is open, throw him the lob. As #5 cuts to the rim, #4 cuts to the elbow and #5 vacates. #4 can then cut to the rim also. If you didn’t throw to #5, you need to throw to #4 whether open or not.
Sideline OB with 2-3 second left
We used this side ob play when we needed a quick catch and shoot play with just a second or more left.
#2 sets the backscreen for #5. If #5 is open at the rim, give it to him. If not, #2 continues off of #4 and #3 double screen for a quick catch and shoot.
Note from Coach Anderson- These may not be super plays but the fact remains, a coach needs to think about situations like this to have something in place.
Coach Evan Massey- Galesburg
Baseline OB with under 2 seconds
#4 and #5 move shoulder to shoulder to see double screen for a shooter to come off (#2). As soon as #2 gets to the screen, #4 cuts to the weakside block. #5 cuts right off #4 directly to the ball. Vs. bad defenses #4 may be open but often vs good teams, #5 will open for a lob pass.
Sideline OB- need a three with 1 to 10 seconds left
#2 will race to the ball off the double screens of #4 and #5. When #2 clears the screen, they reverse and go back off a double fade screen by #4 and #5. The inbounder looks to skip the ball to #2.
Sideline OB- With 5 or more seconds left
This is a sideline ob that the Indiana Fever use regular. They look to inbound the ball to #2 coming off the #5 screen. #1 will cut off #2 and get a handoff, and then a ball screen by #5.
#1 can choose to turn the corner and drive to the basket. (An option could be to have #5 roll off the screen). As soon as #1 clears #5’s screen, #5 goes and screens for #2 to fill behind #1. #1 looks to pass back to #2 for a three point shot.
