Bob Anderson
I didn’t have any back cut or backdoor plays, but we drilled on backdoor cuts and passes daily.
We had a simple rule that if your man was overplaying you beyond the three point arc, that was an automatic back cut.
This was a read that the passer and the cutter were both making- it was automatic.
Jerry Leggett
The receiver being overplayed would point away from the basket to indicate they were going to go backdoor.
General Rule
If you start a backdoor cut, you MUST keep going with the cut. You can NEVER stop a backdoor cut.
Carolina Action
Ball handler starts to dribble away from the receiver, then pivots and comes back to the receiver. The receiver takes the pivot as a signal to go backdoor.
“Get Open”
A coach comes up with a key phrase to indicate wanting to set up a backdoor. It could be the coach screaming,”Get open.” “Work.” “Run the offense.”
