Inside the Huddle Down 2 with 12 Seconds to Go- Part 2

This Week’s Question: Your team has the ball out of bounds on the sideline with 12 seconds to go in the game. You are down 2 points. Tell me what you will do.

Ryan Brown- Taylorville

The play is very simple and takes advantage of over aggressive defensive teams in these situations. It works against switching man which some teams like to do on SLOBs or BLOBs later in games.

I would draw up a play to puts the defense in a bind and gives us the option of an easy 2 or an open 3. In our situation, we run Princeton Chin action and initiate our action with a dribble handoff a lot. Our action would start with a fake handoff on the wing. As that is happening, our 5 would step up like he would be setting a screen on the 3, hopefully drawing his defender away from the rim. On the opposite side of the floor, the 4 will screen the 2 to the weak side corner. As our 1 turns the corner after the fake handoff, he would read X4. If they are late in rotation, we would lay the ball in for two. If they help, he can deliver a hammer pass across the baseline to the 2 for a corner 3.
