X/O’s- Guard Posted Up

Megan Pacheco was a 5’9”, All-State guard for us from 1996 thru 2000. She was a coaches dream, she could defend 1-5, shoot from perimeter, and be physical in the post.

We set up a play that we thought would both allow her to post up and to shoot the three.

In 2000, our players were: #1 Jaque Howard, #2 Michelle Flaar, #3 Megan Pacheco, #4 Whitney Snyder, #5 Sarah Pacheco.

Our point guard started away from #3 who would cut to get the ball at the top in the slot.

#5 would pop out. For us, we were fortunate because our #5 was a three point shooter.

#3 would pass and cut, while #4 would clear out the weakside post.

The play might end with #5 feeding it inside, or on the reverse to the top #3 would seal and might get a high low action. #4 might keep the ball on that side and pass back to #5 to just maintain the post up.

Today, they would say we had inverted the offense by having the guard post up in a 4 around 1.

If #4 reversed the ball to #1, it initiated a flex action. #5 (Sarah Pacheco at 6’0”) was cutting to the lane. And #3 was coming up for the shot.
