Massey Basketball- Reaches 750,000 & Seeking Help

It has been an exciting 14 months since I started doing Massey Basketball Blog “full-time” as my new hobby. It is not “work” for me, I am totally enjoying what I am doing.

** Going to the Public Library and pouring thru newspaper stories over the last 75 years.

** Having an excuse to email or text outstanding coaches and outstanding player to pick their brain about their approach to their crafts.

** Calling people like Jimmie Carr and Jay Redfern to talk to them about Streaks girls and boys basketball from years and years ago.

** Having coaches email, text, or call to ask if I would do a post on a particular subject.

Massey Basketball Blog has posts that seem to fall into three general areas- looking back at past athletes and teams, shining light on today’s teams, athletes, and coaches, and providing “clinic” info to coaches, players, and parents to help them.

This past Sunday, Massey Basketball Blog reached 750,000 hits on my posts. That is very satisfying to know there is an interest in Massey Basketball Blog. I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to read my blog.

Jay Redfern reached out, and now WGIL is posting one of my articles each week. WGIL and Jay Redfern have become “Galesburg’s Newspaper” so it is very exciting to be able to contribute.

I have a lot that I still want to do- great players, great teams, and great games. Right now I am working on profiles and insights into some of the all-time top high school coaches in Illinois, an in-depth look at the famous Cobden Appleknockers, and “Fast Break” question/answer with one of GHS’s all-time greatest athletes.

I would like to thank all who have followed the blog and worked thru my grammar and typing errors (I hate proof-reading).

If you want to updates on any new blog posts on Massey Basketball Blog, follow Massey Basketball on Facebook. Every blog posts is put on this Facebook page.

I would like your help to make the blog better.

#1- Tell A Friend and Share a Post

If you enjoy Massey Basketball Blog, tell a friend who likes sports and history. If you are a coach, tell your assistants or tell a coaching friend about it. It is easy to find, just tell them to go to Massey Basketball Blog!!

If you read an article you like, share it with other people. You can get the address and share it on your social media, text it, or email it to others.

Tell parents and athletes about the blog.

#2- Send Requests

I love it when I get a text, email, or a comment on a post asking me if I would do a blog post on a particular topic. Examples..

** A coach asking if I would put some ideas about peaking at the end of the season.

** A player reaching out asking if I could do a post on parents who keep trying to coach their son/daughter in games.

** A coach asking for some ideas about how to attack a Triangle and Two defense.

** A fan asking me if I would do something on the Cobden Appleknockers.

** A fan asked if I knew anything about when Corpus Christi beat GHS. That story is about to be posted.

Players and coaches, please reach out with any questions you have. I don’t have all the answers but I will reach out to other coaches and get you some ideas.

Fans, tell me if there are some topics you would like me to look at. “Classic game,” “Legendary athlete.”

You can reach out by leaving a comment on a blog post, or emailing me at emass70@yahoo.com

#3- Use the Blog as Resource

Right now there are over 1,000 blog posts that you can look thru. You can go in the upper left of the home page, and type in a subject, a name or an actual title, and it will take you to it. So if you want to find something on the topic of motivation, just type it in.

And I am in the process of putting together a plan to have all of the articles indexed by having their titles have a label. It will take awhile but it will help you find what you want. Directions on how to do this, appear in a page at the upper right of the home page.

Here is an idea of the titles to use to find what you are looking for. It will take awhile to get the titles reorganized.
