Galesburg jumped out to a 17-9 first half lead with suffocating defense that did not allow the Potters to get going. In the second half it was more of the same as Galesburg completely dominated on their way to a decisive 35-19 win, and a Regional Championship.
The Streaks advance to the Sectional which will be in Galesburg’s Thiel Gym, starting next Tuesday, February 24. Galesburg will play at 6:00pm vs. the winner of Friday’s game between Metamora and Morris. The second game at 7:30pm will be Ottawa vs. Washington.
Washington defeated Dunlap 61-33, and Ottawa upset Sterling 33-27.
Thursday’s Galesburg win just happened to be on the birthday of three of the Streaks players- Ella Herchenroder, Taylor Herchenroder, and Grace Herchenroder.
