Iowa HS boys basketball went to 4 classes in 1985. The Iowa boys and girls tourneys are run by separate state organizations. The boys state organization in an effort to build greater interest and avoid conflicts with the NCAA tourney has decided to go with a revised format where all four classes will be playing their state championships on the same Friday. This concept is similar to what the state of Wisconsin does with their tourney.
