Brian Borland has written a book about his mother's 1956 Iowa State girls basketball championship team. His mother, Carolyn was the leading scorer on the team. The school was so tiny that it had never had enough girls to field a team until Borland's grandfather went to the school board and asked them to add girls basketball. The team was made up of sisters from several families.
The title of Borland's book is Maynard 8 Miles. The book has drawn attention from the screenwriter who put together both Hoosiers and Rudy. So for now, the book is available, but maybe later it will be a film to view.
