Most teams run an Iverson action for one of their best players, just to get them the ball on a wing with their defender maybe out of position so they can have open shot or a good angle to drive baseline. To prevent this, teams will work hard to get the defender to follow right behind the guard on their cut. This is an easy counter for the cutter.
Diagram #1- We are setting up #3 on an Iverson cut, cutting over the top.
Diagram #2- As soon as #3 clears #5, #5 steps to get the pass from #1. As soon as #5 catches they must face up. As soon as #3 gets to #4, #3 will curl right off #4 to the basket.
