Today’s Streaks Alumni Profile features Arleta Brown from the GHS Class of 2020.
Arleta was one of the players every coach loves to have on their team. Every practice and every game she showed up to give 100%, she never had off days. She accepted coaching and was ready to fulfill any role the team needed, and guard anyone on the other team.
Her level of enthusiasm and commitment to her team made her joy to have on the team!
Sports/Activities
I participated in basketball and softball during my time at GHS. Along with 4-H, and FCA.
Favorite Teachers/Classes
My two favorite classes were anatomy and physiology with Mr. Peachey, and home economics with Mrs. Foster.
Favorite Memories
Friday night home football games were always fun. But some of my favorite memories are summer league basketball games and camps with the team.
After GHS Graduation
After graduation I went to Carl Sandburg College and got my 2 year degree before transferring to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to finish up my bachelors degree.
These Days
I am currently a lab assistant at OSF!
I have moved back to Galesburg since graduation, where I have accepted a position at OSF. I very much love working full time at the hospital and all the patients I get to see day to day. But when I am not at work I am either with my boyfriend and our dog Sprig, snuggled up with a good book, or spending time with my family and new baby nephew.
Advice to GHS Students/Athletes
Always be a leader! Show up for your team in and out everyday and bring the energy at practice, summer league games, in season games.
Also soak it all in, some day you are going to look back and remember all the laughs, late nights, and early mornings with your teammates. The hotel stays where all the team bonding moments happened, these will be the moments that you remember not the wins or losses. So don't focus on the records, or scores, but the friendships you create and the memories that you are making right now.
