Friday Fotos- 1998 Rebuilding Year

REBUILDING YEAR-
The 1998 team had no seniors. Of the top 8 players, there were 2 freshmen (Sarah Pacheco, Rachel Bicego), 4 sophomores (Michelle Flaar, Jaque Howard, Whitney Snyder, Megan Pacheco), and 2 juniors (Sarah Larson, Jenny Zolper). Only two of these players had been regulars on the 1997 team- Megan Pacheco and Sarah Larson. There is no doubt that 1998 should have been a rebuilding year.

TOUGHER TOGETHER-
This is a picture of four players- Stacey Boettcher, Sarah Larson, Michelle Flaar, and Rachel Bicego leaving the floor at Rock Island after celebrating winning a Sectional Championship.

ALL IN-
In basketball, it can be frustrating with only 5 players able to play at one time. When our bench made up of all underclassmen, our bench was excited to be on the varsity and excited for the team. Our players were “All In.”

ALWAYS A STREAK-
This is picture of Molly Watson celebrating the Streaks win with one of the ‘98 players. Molly was at DePaul but made the effort to come back and support the Streaks at the Supersectional at NIU.

GROWING PAINS-
It was an exciting year but it wasn’t always easy. The Streaks lost to Loyola in the Quarterfinals by 59-43. Loyola went onto win the State title. This is Freshman, Rachel Bicego coming off the floor. Rachel as a Freshman played 28 minutes in the Quarterfinal game.

Prophecy-
The Galesburg Register-Mail had precognitive ability.
