Former Galesburg Silver Streak, Juniper Schwartzman (Grinnell College) was named the Midwest Conference Women’s Basketball Performer of the Week.
Juniper is a 2023 GHS grad. She was a key performer for the Streaks 2022 and 2023 teams that won IHSA Regionals. More recently she gained national attention during the 2024 season as the place kicker for the Grinnell football team.
Juniper earned the Performer of the Week honors for her performance on December 31 vs. Nebraska Wesleyan. Grinnell won the game 58-40 with Schwartzman pulling down 19 rebounds in the game.
The Grinnell physics major is having a strong season for the Pioneers. On the season, Juniper is averaging 23 minutes, 5.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, while shooting 49% from the field and 75% from the free throw line.
The Pioneers got off to a slow start in the non-conference, going 2-6. Since moving into MWC play, the Pioneers have won 3 of 4 games.
Grinnell and Juniper will be playing close to Galesburg this month…
