I found the 1976 Peoria Supersectional Program in the IHSA files. The game was played at Roberstson Fieldhouse.
On their way to an undefeated, WB6 championship, the Silver Streaks had beaten Moline twice during the regular season. Both games were nail biters.
Galesburg won the first meeting 73-72, and the second meeting 69-66.
Everyone involved in sports has heard the adage, “It’s tough to beat a good team three times.” That is what the Super-Sectional was going to be for the Silver Streaks.
Galesburg prevailed over Moline 52-47. The Streaks were led by Scott Kelley’s 24 points, and Mike Wilder’s 10 points and 8 assists. The Streaks dominated the boards behind Carl Finley 8, Scott Kelley 7, and Mike Campbell 6.
Moline was led by Jim Hollstrom’s 26 points, and Tim Hoyt’s 12.
