Streaks Basketball Alums: Molly Watson-Fourdyce 1997

Massey-
What are some of your favorite memories from GHS?

Molly- I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to be a Silver Streak! I got to play the game I love with my best friends, and the best coaching staff in Illinois! The entire experience of playing basketball at GHS was a highlight for me. Learning the value of work ethic, teamwork, and getting the opportunity to compete in multiple state tournaments for the best fans in Illinois is something I will never forget!

Massey-
What did you do after graduation from GHS?

Molly- After high school I went to DePaul University. I graduated with a degree in Physical Education and Fitness Management. I spent two years after college playing basketball in Ireland and the Netherlands. After that, I earned a Master’s Degree from Ball State University in Physical Education with an emphasis in Sport Psychology.

Massey- What has been your career?

Molly - Most of my career has been teaching health & physical education and coaching basketball. For the past two years, I have been working towards a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I begin my clinical internship next month.

Massey- What are you up to now?

Molly- We have lived in West Lafayette, Indiana for the past 13 years. My husband is an Assistant Athletic Director for the Purdue University Athletic Department. We have three kids (ages 17, 15 & 10) who keep us very busy with all of their activities. I am looking forward to transitioning into my new career as a counselor.

Massey- What advice would you give today’s Streak athletes?

Molly- Enjoy and make the most of your time as a Silver Streak!Galesburg is a special place to be an athlete. Embrace the opportunities that you have in front of you, set your goals high and support each other on and off the court

  1. I remember watching Molly play when I was in junior high and looking up to her like people look up to Caitlin Clark now.

  2. Today people will talk about someone being a star in other communities, they don’t have any understanding of what impact Molly had. When she was in school, we had over 200 grade school/JH girls come to summer camps- mainly just to be around Molly!!
