Coaching 101- Up 3 Defend OB with 2 Seconds

Your team is up 3 points with 2 or less seconds left, and the other team is entering the ball on their baseline under their basket. How are you going to defend when only a three hurts you?

Normal Alignment-
Do you take the strategy of defending the ob play like you normally would defend? The logic would be to do what you normally do and what you practice. Tell your defenders to switch all screens.

Matchup But On Arc Side of Offense-
You line up man to man but you are going to play on their arc side of your man. You will give up the cut to the basket for a 2.

Guard the Arc Not the Man-
The only thing that can hurt is the three. Don’t guard anything inside the arc. Have the defenders spread out around the arc facing the basket. The defenders defend the arc like they would defend a play running down the floor to go to the black- meet them and deny at the arc.

My strategy would be to guard the arc not the man.

What’s your strategy? One of these or another? Please share.
