After reading all of the Silver Streak box scores I am baffled at how Dick Nichols was named to the All Tournament team. I am sure he was a fine player but Dave Cox and "Bumpy" Nixon had much better tournament stats than Dick Nichols. Just find it strange.
I have had some others mention that. Sometimes “all-star” teams can have unusual results. Bottom line, ‘59 Streaks were one of the all-time best Galesburg teams!!
My reply is interesting only to 70s Knox people. Rantoul was coached by Bob Kidd, my dad. In the quarter finals our 2 forwards had 101 fevers ( didn’t tell anyone) and our all state guard was 4-20. We always thought we should have played Galesburg in the semis
