This is a late game side ob play when trailing. It was run by the Indiana Fever when down 2. It gives 2 options for threes, and one option for an inside two.
Diagram #1- The first option is to have #2 come up off a stagger, looking for a three. Depending on the time left, #2 can shoot the three or drive to the basket.
Diagram #2- As #2 cuts, #1 starts across to be a screener. #1 screens #3 to allow them to post up or go to short corner. The Fever either by choice or lack of discipline, appeared to whiff or just ghost the screen. This “bad screen” created confusion about whether to switch or not switch.
After #2 cuts off #5, #5 will start down the lane to either screen #1’s defender or to screen their own man to prevent switching.
