Streaks Basketball Alums: Clay Britton 1980





























Massey- What are some of your favorite memories from your GHS days?


Clay Britton- How great the Galesburg community supported the Silver Streaks. Beating Quincy my Senior year. 




Massey- What did you do immediately after graduating?


Clay Britton- Went to Lincoln College and Quincy College.


































Massey- What have you done for a career?


Clay Britton- US Army for 24 years. Worked as a Civilian Recuiter for the Army for 6 years. Then worked in Mental Health for 15 years. 


Massey- What are you doing now?


Clay Britton- Retired, work with my Church and involved in a non profit for the homeless. Food drives and Clothing. Married with 2 children, living in Richmond Hill GA. I enjoy biking and fishing. 


Massey- Advice to today’s Streaks?


Clay Britton- Practice, and hit the weights utilize all available resources. Most importantly, be coachable.

  5. Clay was one of the best that played above the rim guys that I've ever seen. He had great leaping ability and I remember when he out jumped 6/10 Michael Payne of Quincy at the jump ball circle. Those were were great memories of Clay.

    2. It would be great to have a picture of that jump ball!! From stories of “old-timers”, it would be great to see Al Williams and Clay Britton on the court together- guessing there would be a lot of plays above the rim!!
