The following are sample questions for players in the post-season. The players are asked to complete these questions in our post-season meeting. They then turn the questions into the coach at the end of the meeting.
Later in the spring, the coach puts out a sign up sheet for individual meetings. The players who are planning to play basketball the next year are expected to sign up for a meeting time with the coach.
At the individual meetings, the coach can use the player’s survey as a basis for the conversation. If the player’s answers are not aligned with the coach’s thoughts, it is part of a necessary conversation. And if the player’s answers are not aligned with their teammates, that can be part of the conversation.
For All Players
1- What are some of your favorite memories of this season?
2- As far as what you personally achieved, what are you most proud of this season?
3- What did we do offensively that you thought was good?
4- What did we do offensively that you thought could be changed and improved?
5- Defensively what was good and bad this year?
6- What about practice was good?
7- What about practice could be changed and improved?
8- Did you feel the coaches under rated any players?
9- Did you feel the coaches over rated any players?
10- Was there anyone on this year’s team who the coach should have cut because of their attitude. They had an attitude that was disruptive to our team.
For Returning Players
Rate yourself in the following areas- (1 Need Improvement, 2- Fair, 3- Good, 4-All-Conference Quality, 5- All-State Quality)
And returning player in each category who you would rate the highest.

3- Effort in Practice
4- Quality as a Teammate
5- Shooting
6- Defense
7- Coachability
8- Ball Handling
9- If we started the season today, who do you think would be the starters?
10- If we started the season today, what do you think your role would be?

13- What do you want the coach to know about you that they may not know?
14- What other sports will you be playing?
15- Do you have any conflicts that may interfere with your ability to work out in June with the basketball team?
