An autographed copy of John Grisham's Bleachers. |
Libby Allison, formerly of Galesburg now is newscaster in Charlottesville, Va. She sent a copy of the book to me. |
Bleachers happens to be one of my all-time favorite novels. I realize I have probably only read about 5% of the total number of books that my brother has read, but it is still one of my all-time favorites. Any of you who played high school sports will absolutely love this Grisham novel and will be able to totally identify with the story.
The novel is set in small town America. The local high school has been highly successful in football. The story centers around the local high school coach is dying. Former players who still live in the town and former players who have moved on, all come back in the form of a reunion. As the players share their memories, they share all the things they feel they learned from each other and from their coach. But as they think back, it is obvious they are not sure if they hate their old coach or if they love their old coach.
The book is only 168 pages. It is a book I started one evening and could not go to bed until I had finished the story.
Thanks Libby- great present!!!
