Here are some options to use vs. Box & 1 defense.
Bob Anderson- Williamsfield
Todd Borrison- Mediapolis
Evan Massey- Galesburg
Offensively, we are starting in a box set. #2 is the play who has the MM defender on them. #1 is going to pass to the post opposite from #2. #1 is going to go away from the pass. They want to go low enough that the defender on the baseline (zone defender), must come out to cover them.
The ball is reversed to #1. After #5 passes the ball, #2 screens the zone defender on the weakside block. #5 cuts hard to the block. If the zone defender on #1’s side doesn’t come out, #1 will have open shot. If zone defender comes out, #5 may have a layup.
The second play is a similar action. #1 passes away from #3 (being guarded mm). #5 comes up for a reversal. The ball is reversed to #1. #3 will screen the zone for #1 to come out. #1 may have an open shot.
As #1 catches the ball, #3 screens the weakside of the zone for #4 to come across.

I liked using the box and one philosophy out of our Ameba 1-1-3 zone. Kept everyone with same rules. - Mark Makeever
ReplyDeleteOffensively what hurt it was lots of cutters and overloads. And great shooting 😊 - Mark Makeever
