This is a look back at the history of Galesburg (and the world). What was going on 100 years ago, 75 years ago, 50 years ago, 25 years ago, and 10 years ago this week? 



100 Years Ago- 1926
America was battling with what to do with the sport of boxing. In this story, the winning boxer had actually killed his opponent when he knocked him out. 




















75 Years Ago- 1951
General Douglas MacArthur is welcomed to the U.S. Congress. He became a controversial figure- a hero to some and not to others. 




















50 Years Ago- 1976
The Carl Sandburg College board was anxious for their new campus to open, and frustrated with the progress of the construction company. 















25 Years Ago- 2001
One of the most popular columns was Jay Redfern’s “Silver Streaks Insider.” In this article he writes about Alexis DeJaynes, a Streaks golfer.




















10 Years Ago- 2016
Drake Sykes was having a great season as a Knox baseball players. A decade later he would be the head coach at Knox.
