Using NBA stats over the last five years. The highest rate of fouling is between 4-11 seconds left in the game.
What has more success- Fouling or Playing it out?
During the same time frame, there is almost identical success between the two strategies. With that said, most NBA teams choose to play it out.
What about rebounding the free throw?
In the NBA, the shooting team normally gets about 10% of missed free throws. But under 10 seconds when teams choose to intentionally miss a free throw, the shooting team gets 42% of the offensive rebounds.
