Missouri’s MSHSAA- Declares Sectional Do Over

In Missouri’s State Tourney series, Principia won thrilling 1 point Sectional game. Obviously it was time to celebrate, but there was a problem.

The loser’s Highland had claimed there was a scoring error back in the third quarter when a Highland player made a layup and got only one point. The Highland coach handled it the way the rules require. The game officials refused to check either team’s scorebooks.

Highland did not give up, they appealed to the MSHSAA. The MSHSAA refused the appeal, viewed the tape, and evaluated how the officials had handled it. The tape showed that Highland had not gotten credit for two points on the layup- only one point.

The conclusion is that the game will start from the error with 54 seconds to go in the third quarter with Highland up 34-29.

So you talk about a bad day- Principia goes from 1 point win to now will be down 5 with 54 seconds left in the third quarter.

If you are wondering, there will be new refs.

Muddy River Sports have a great write up of the game…
