The Energy Bus

The following are some thoughts from the Energy Bus by Jon Gordon.

Rule #1- You're the Driver of Your Bus

"Always remember that you are the driver of your bus. It's the most important of the rules because if you don't take responsibility for your life and control of your bus hen you can't take it where you want to go."

"Of course you can seek directions and advice along the way, but remember it's your bus and your trip."

More people die Monday morning at 9:00am than any other time. "Think about it, people would rather die than go to work."

"Choice is your greatest gift. No one can choose your attitude. No one else can choose your energy."

Rule #2- Desire, Vision, and Focus Move Your Bus in the Right Direction

"The law of attraction, the more we focus on something, the more we think about something, the more it shows up in our lives."

People who are complainers- focus on what they don't want, don't like, and don't have.

"If you want to change your situation, you must first change your thoughts."

E + P = O    Events + Perception = Outcome

"We can't control the events in our life but we can control how we perceive them."

"Positive energy and positive people create positive results."

Rule #3- Fuel Your Ride with Positive Energy

"Focus on the one good shot, not all the bad shots."  That is what keeps a golfer going.

At the end of each day- focus on the positive- What was your success of the day?

Take a "success walk", go for a walk and think about your successes.

Rule #4 Invite People on Your Bus and Share Your Vision for the Road Ahead

"The more people you pick up along the way, the more energy you create during your ride."

Rule #5- Don't Waste Your Energy on Those Who Don't Get On Your Bus

"He had spent so much time thinking about the three "wolves" that he had completely ignored the people who wanted to be on his bus."

"If you want to be successful, you have to be very careful about who is on your bus."

Energy vampires are people who drain your energy.

Rule #6- Post a Sign That Says No Energy Vampires Allowed on Your Bus

"You got to be strong enough to tell people that you will not allow any negativity on your bus. You got to say this is where we are going and to get there we need a positive and supportive team."

"Your positive energy and vision must be greater than anyone's and everyone's negativity. Your certainty must be greater than everyone's doubt."

Leaders must communicate from the heart.

Rule #7- Enthusiasm Attracts More Passengers and Energizes Them During the Ride

"Live and work with enthusiasm."

Rule #8- Love Your Passengers

"Your team wants to know you care about them."

"Enthusiasm is what gets them on the bus, but love is what keeps them on the bus."

1- Make time for them.
2- Listen to them.
3- Recognize them.
4- Serve Them.
5- Bring out the best in them.

Rule #9- Drive with Purpose

Rule #10- Have Fun and Enjoy the Ride

Enjoy more moments.

Savor victories.
